NOCP Committee Report October 2014

It took 2 years, 2 membership surveys, 1 survey to physicians and employers, continual consultation with the post secondary cardiology technology programs, countless hours from the CSCT NOCP revision committee and approval by the CSCT Board of Directors and the CMA Conjoint Accreditation Services before we had a revised National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) in Spring 2014.

And the work continues with the CSCT exam committee now revising the CSCT certification exam blueprint to align with the 2014 NOCP. The post secondary cardiology technology programs also have to adjust their curriculums to align with the revised NOCP before the first exam based on the revised profile takes place in September 2017.

CSCT follows the Guiding Principles for National Competency Profiles as per the CMA Conjoint Accreditation Services and we have adopted a 7 year revision cycle. Work on the next revision should  start in 2018 and once again there will be the opportunity to assess the NOCP to ensure its relevance to current practice and its credibility among stakeholders.

I would like to thank everyone who took part in the surveys and discussions involved in this revision.

Respectfully submitted

Gretchen Dunn
